Why Me?: The Sammy Davis, Jr. Story by Sammy Davis

What if an American pharmaceutical company created an epidemic because it already had the cure? What if they started the disease in a foreign country in order to by-pass regulatory requirements for the drugs approval? What if the United States Government wanted to step in and get credit for making the cure available? And what if the truth were then discovered? The company is The Condor Corporation. The country is China; SARS is the disease; and FATAL HEALING is the novel. Jack Nebra, a discredited former FBI agent and now a local detective, is investigating a home invasion murder. The deceased was a research assistant at the Condor Corporation who seemingly had no enemies. But the murder appears anything but random. The investigation is stymied at every turn. A new research assistant at Condor, with whom Jack has become romantically involved, begins to suspect the horrible truth. But it may be too little, too late, especially when the White House gets involved. It could happen! In FATAL HEALING, Don Whitman skillfully crafts the plot, making the scandal seem quite possible. The characters are well developed and alive, and the story is an engaging journey into the inner workings of big business and political chicanery.
